Is your Connecticut business ready to reopen?
Doctors, nurses, bus drivers, grocery clerks, and other essential workers have continued to work throughout the pandemic. But among the millions of people who have been furloughed or teleworking for a month or more, some are asked back to work. As a business owner, you might have questions such as “how do I keep my workplace COVID-19 free?” and “what are some safety precautions I could and must take?” AFC Urgent Care New Britain can help you return to work safely in Connecticut after COVID-19.
When is it safe to return to work after COVID-19?
Most businesses are eager to reopen, but this step asks for certain guidelines and requirements to be followed in order to keep everyone safe. June 17th is on its way and workers must take the same precautions as they’ve previously done in Phase 1, but for Phase 2, employers may choose to screen employees before entering the facility. This is a process that can include screening questions or physically taking employees’ temperatures.
Workers who show symptoms of COVID-19 should remain home and follow CDC-recommended steps. If an employee has been in close contact with someone with COVID-19, it is advised that he or she stays at home and practices social distancing for 14 days.
COVID-19 workplace safeguard plan:
To open businesses, here are some Connecticut guidelines all employers can follow to protect their workers and customers from COVID-19:
- Everyone should be wearing a mask at all times
- Employees who have symptoms (i.e., fever, cough, or shortness of breath) should notify their supervisor and stay home.
- Sick employees should follow CDC-recommended steps.
- Employees should not return to work until the criteria to discontinue home isolation are met, in consultation with healthcare providers and state and local health departments.
- Employees who are well but who have a sick family member at home with COVID-19 should notify their supervisor and follow CDC recommended precautions.
The most important thing to remember during phase 2 is that the pandemic is NOT fully over and we should still act like it may
come back or continue through the summer months. We don’t want to move backwards, so keep reading and staying informed.
